Yes, you read that date correctly: December 2015. This is one of our most popular articles on the blog, period.

And with good reason: V&V Miniatures is growing rapidly and their models are getting increasingly noticed. Hence their review is doing well in search results and so lots of peeps are ending up on Skirmish Wargaming.

The article on the Vikings is the oldest one, but the Saxon and Norman articles are getting traction, as well.

Coming in at #2 is Sigur’s review of Chain of Command by Too Fat Lardies (I’m sensing a theme here – clearly, there is an audience for Sigur’s excellent reviews of skirmish sets!). #1 – Changes to Saga 2nd edition

And our top article, by a landslide: the report from Crisis Antwerp 2017 containing upcoming changes to the Second Edition, due to be released in early 2018. Straight from the source: the Studio Tomahawk folks at the convention!

The response to this article was overwhelming, as indicated by the stats above! Since there wasn’t much known at all about Saga 2nd edition at the time, the article scratched an itch many of us were feeling.

Honorary Mentions

I should note that our most visited article ever didn’t make it into this list at all! It’s Sigur’s Ronin Review from January 2015, coming in at 5253 unique visitors and 5968 page views.

But it did come in as #7 for 2017, being outclassed only by Sigur’s Lion Rampant review at #6.

And may I just say: THANK YOU to SIGUR, who has been churning out so many quality articles he deserves a medal!

So, what’s happening in 2018?

There’s a ton of cool stuff coming up for 2018:

  1. Lots more miniature and terrain reviews. Big players like Gripping Beast, but also relatively unknown companies such as After Hours Workshop from Poland have pledged some of their amazing products for us to look at!
  2. More opinionated articles. So far, we’ve kept it pretty neutral here, but we want to write more about certain topics that concern us all (no, not politics).
  3. More rules reviews and tactics. Quite naturally, we’ll discuss games we haven’t discussed before. We’ll also be diving some old ones, sharing battle reports and tactics articles.

In closing, I would like to note we’ve opened up a Facebook group for Skirmish Wargaming readers (at the time of writing it’s already at 168 members!). If you haven’t yet, do join the group and share your skirmish wargaming experiences, painted models, etc. Like the Facebook page while you’re at it.

Finally, if you’d like to be a contributor to the blog: you can! Find us on Facebook and we’d love to discuss your involvement. We’re always looking for skirmish enthusiasts willing to share good content with their fellow gamers!

Signing off for 2017! Have a good one, you guys!
